Original Title: TIL research has found that swearing can reduce the perception of pain (providing a measurable analgesic effect) by as much as 33%. Because swearing is processed in so many different parts of the brain at once, it’s more effective than almost anything else at distracting from pain and discomfort.

I know this is just a joke, but you should be dressed for the weather outside/have extra clothes and blankets in the car. Just in case your heat dies in the car, you run out of gas, get stranded/stuck.

        Solid advice.

I was dressed accordingly, always had like 3+ layers not counting negative temperature rated down coat, boots, scarf, gloves etc it just still sucked that it was cold and icy lol.

This is why people with Tourettes tend to use curse words.

And if I remember right it can apply to words like “fudge” or “cheese and rice” if you use them often enough as standins.

It’s not about the word, it’s about the feeling behind it.

Doesn’t it only work for people who don’t swear on the regular? Assuming it works at all.

I swear pretty often and it still works for me, but I also use joke profanity now because of my nephews.

It works better if you don’t usually swear. I remember seeing a program with Stephen Fry and Bryan Blessed a long time ago. I’ve no scientific evidence to back it up though
