  • Honestly if you don’t want to think too much about it, go with Briar, it’s way more battle tested, while Berty seems like it hasn’t seen much adoption since it’s younger, both have a bit of development activity I saw, so I can’t say if one is more or less maintained than the other

    As for the actual question of gauging which has the better cryptographical implementation, I don’t either, I pretty much don’t know a thing beside the most surface level information, I believe if you want to look into it you’ll have to start from their whitepapers






  • Docker or containers in general provide isolation too, not just declarative image generation, it’s all neatly packaged into one tool that isn’t that heavy on the system either, it’s not a cop out at all.

    If I could choose, not for laziness, but for reproducibility and compatibility, I would only package software in 3 formats:

    • Nix package
    • Container image
    • Flatpak

    The rest of the native packaging formats are all good in their own way, but not as good. Some may have specific use cased that make them best like Appimage, soooo result…
