If Putin had any desire to conquer Switzerland, all I’ll say is good luck. They’re:

• Heavily fortified, with hundreds of bunkers dotting the countryside
• Highly mountainous, which would heavily slow down a ground invasion.
• One of the few states to still practice mandatory military service.
• Pretty lax with gun ownership, to the point where citizens have a statutory duty to bear arms in the event of an invasion.
• A substantial player in the banking sector with many oligarchs using their service. Any freeze they’d put on Russian assets would likely go above and beyond what NATO and the EU managed, just because of how synonymous their banks are with the wealthy. They would probably send the Russian economy into freefall long before they could even get anywhere near Zurich.
• Surrounded from all sides by NATO and EU member states, and would likely have plenty of time to prepare their own forces in the unlikely event that Russia mounts a full-scale invasion and takes over the rest of Europe.

Novelty/troll accounts. I’ve seen a lot of them pop up on Reddit over the years. The most infamous one I remember was one called Gradual_****** (yes, the n-word) that would type out ordinary replies that would gradually switch to ebonics.

Reasons that are fine to mention: Last job was temporary, I was made redundant.

Reasons that aren’t fine to mention: I quit due to overwhelming stress, I was fired for capability/gross misconduct reasons (unless it was an unfair dismissal which you successfully challenged in court and have the documentation to back it up.)

It’s amazing how we pilloried RealPlayer and burned its parent company to the fucking ground over two decades ago for far less egregious than what we now let Meta, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc get away with.

Never really used Voyager. I think the fact that it was a webpage you accessed via your browser rather than an actual smartphone app put me off.

Jerboa was incredibly barebones and had an ugly UI, not to mention that until quite recently, you couldn’t even access the permalink to replies until the app was updated but then Lemmy itself was updated and you could only sign in to servers that were running the latest version of Lemmy.

I never personally used Sync when it was still on Reddit (was more of a BaconReader and Alien Blue user) but I can see why so many people loved the app and consider Reddit’s API changes a dealbreaker.
