100% this. We have actual murderers in prison for life who have killed several people. They’re still here and will be until they die.

Oh man, this whole sexy she-animal thing wasn’t really a thing when I was a kid. Yeah, they had anthropomorphized animals, like “Miss Bunny” from Bambi or even Guinevere as a literal fox on Disney’s Robin Hood , but nothing really designed to be attractive as some kind of crossover. Even in the ‘80s if they wanted someone sexy they made it a human, like Jem or something. Wasn’t until the later ‘80s and ‘90s that I think that changed to getting more “furry” like.
Option A: have a real court that judges against you and points out all the crimes you commit.
Option B: A court that judges in your favor and makes up rules to support your actions after the fact.

Truth. Half the time I see some satire article from The Onion or similar productions and I have to double take to make sure it’s The Onion and not real. Satire used to be more obviously absurd and mocking. Now it’s too real.

I’m not a fan of vigilantism or mob justice save for the removal of objectively destructive and tyrannical leadership. Too many ways to get it wrong.

It’s been like this since his first term. He’s not lying about invading Greenland or punishing Canada into being the 51st state. He absolutely wants to. Assuming (hopefully) that both these endeavors never materialize, he will claim that these threats accomplished some other goal that was made up on the spot. Which will be a lie.
I have an acquaintance that works for an old money, very wealthy family from oil money. The kind that influences regional as well as national politics. He worked for them during the last major recession in the late ‘00s. He basically said that his employer and all their buddies were running all over the world buying everything they could “like it is a fire sale” during the recession.
So yeah. This is how we get more billionaires, more oligarchs, and more meta national corpo monopolies where one company controls multiple brand names.

I think one of my favorite keyboards ever was a Microsoft “Natural” keyboard. I think they were available in the mid ’90s or so. Not quite a real split keyboard, but the ergonomics were great. I think I gave it away…it was great for typing, but I wanted a simpler keyboard for gaming.

Well, yes. That’s entirely the point. It started years ago with the quarantining of fringe subs like WPD or Spacedicks, followed by allowing extremist subs like T_D to continue unfettered. Those were red flags many recognized, and Spez made it plainly obvious he was planning on commercializing Reddit and wanted a platform for advertisers. He didn’t lie about that, it was openly stated. Those events were followed up by cramming the Reddit app down our throats, the closing of the API, removing mods and communities protesting Reddit actions, the cleanup of anti-Spez art on /place, forcing ads into the feed, etc., etc. Now we have tacit support of censorship in support of an oligarch.

Because it takes years to build manufacturing capacity, and the tariffs are going to hurt US citizens immediately. Also, the tariffs aren’t just on cars, they’re also on metals and Chinese imports, so companies are going to have to pay extra to import raw and refined materials as well as tech goods that we don’t mine or make ourselves.
That’s a reason these knee-jerk tariffs are so stupid. He just waves a magic wand and declares something and then it’s someone else’s problem to deal with, no guidance, no assistance; he can throw blame around to say it’s not his fault when shit doesn’t work. It hurts the US citizens a lot, will harm markets, retirements, as company profits are impacted, and is just generally a shit idea. The right way would have taken years, incentives, and loans to industry to shore up US manufacturing, but those greedy fucks usually just soak up the money and shrug their shoulders without actually improving much. Now they get to suffer, too.
