Yeah, it’s a shame that there’s an improved HD version stuck on the Wii U now. This and Twilight HD both. But they’ve been rumored to be coming to the Switch for ages, so maybe they’ll come to Switch || Switch 2 eventually.

I hope this is only for certain games and they specify it on the box (like those scammy boxes they sell you like physical games, but that say “digital download code included” and there’s no cart), because otherwise it’s a complete scam. Imagine you’re on a trip and buy a Nintendo Switch 2 game in a shop and can’t play it because your Switch 2 isn’t connected to the Internet. Or they close the shop and your memory dies and you can’t download that game you bought for USD 70. This is really bad…

I like that they kept it in the Mario universe instead of going full “Smash” and just getting all the Nintendo characters in there. Also, I really look forward to playing as a cow!

Wind Waker is a fun one. I think the Wii U remaster is a better way to play it these days, but they didn’t port it to the Switch :(

Yes, it has the classic Grand Prix mode. And Knockout Tour appears to be similar too, just with a new checkpoint mechanic. The “open world” mechanic is probably just limited to the Free Roam mode.

Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 consoles will open on My Nintendo Store from 08/04. To reward the most dedicated Nintendo Switch players in Europe and the UK, the opportunity to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 console from My Nintendo Store will initially be offered on an invite-only basis to selected Nintendo Switch Online members. Initial invitees will be selected based on the following criteria:

Nintendo Switch Online membership status

• Has been a Nintendo Switch Online member for at least two years continuously by 31/03/2025, with an active membership on the day that the pre-order is placed. For family memberships, the person who purchased the membership will be eligible. Other people in the family membership are not eligible.

Play time

• Has spent a certain amount of time playing purchased/paid Nintendo Switch games, prioritising those with more playtime. • Sharing usage information with Nintendo. • Has opted in to share usage information with Nintendo to customise offers and recommendations.

Receive email messages from Nintendo

• Has opted in to receive promotional emails and messages from Nintendo, and be opted in on the day the invitation email is sent. Receive email messages from Nintendo

Eligibility is based on data as of 31/03/2025.

Supervised Nintendo Accounts are not eligible to purchase on My Nintendo Store. For family memberships, the person who purchased the membership will be eligible to pre-order. Other people in the family membership are not eligible. Over time, the selection criteria thresholds may be lowered and more people could be invited to pre-order a Nintendo Switch 2 console. Throughout, we will remain focussed on prioritising the most dedicated Nintendo Switch players (while stocks last).

Pre-orders for Nintendo Switch 2 digital games, upgrade packs and amiibo will open on My Nintendo Store from 24/04.
