If you have enough money to significantly invest in the stock market you’re not experiencing food insecurity
In 2022 nearly 1/10 households with an adult aged 65+ were food insecure.
Speaking of grandma living with you, multigenrational households are more than twice as likely to experience food insecurity.
Is feeding those people wasting money? You’re fine with your grandparents being part of that population if something unexpected happened to you?
Just admit that your solution is “fuck you, i got mine”.
Why don’t those kids and grandkids invest their speculation money into something that tangibly helps grandma? Why go through the rigamarole of building a portfolio to maybe someday pay for a nursing home instead of funding a food bank or a mutual aid network?
The world is in this shitty situation because we’ve had decades of people taking opportunities to help themselves. I don’t think it’s a radical position to question what good a tiny bit of personal enrichment does.
Buying in is perpetuating the bubble. Maybe those younger generations should be itching for a livable planet and not a few extra shares of the orphan crushing machine.
Maybe we just didn’t let enough children die… 🤔
Step back everyone, we’ve got an Enlightened Centrist here!
Don’t call for violence, let’s just compromise to allow a little fascism! 🤏
Spank the monkey?
Republicans turned out at slightly higher numbers than Democrats relative to their representation in the U.S. population (8 points vs. 5 points).
And there’s a lot there suggesting a leftward lean from the independent portion (eg. disproportionately non-white, non-Christian and urban)
Is that any worse though?
Fascista Leggera ⚖️ Full blown McFascism
Old Sierra games do suck as actual games. But the satisfaction of beating them is unrivaled, I’d put them above any Souls like.
They played best when you had other people to commiserate with. Hot seat multi-player getting more and more frustrated until someone realized you have to walk completely around the police car to check it before driving… 🤬
True, and I’d agree on the civil war point.
If you’re prepping for an invasion your best bet would be supporting wartime mobilizations instead of personal defense. Bootstrapping a total war economy is no joke.
Your government can probably handle the logistics of recruiting/arming/training people better than local defense cells. However, even if you’re not enlisted they’ll still need people to work the factories, drive the trucks, sell war bonds, etc…

It makes sense, more proximity to a weapon is more potentially deadly encounters. An intruder very rarely enters your house, but you pass the gun safe in your closet every day.
I think soft power only goes do far once you start achieving your goals. Propaganda got Trump elected twice, but now that the rest of the world sees him driving America off the cliff to toe Putin’s line other countries are being hardened.
Its kind of like an immune response: look at the whiplash in conservative polling numbers in Canada or the mounting regulation/push back on captured social media platforms.
Scotus can’t save him from being GRILLED and SLAMMED! Don’t worry guys, panini politics will save us again!
I don’t disagree that there’s a lot riding on that house of cards, but as you pointed out the stakeholders in keeping that up are nearly every global state. Do the Houthis really hold any cards when they’re under that microscope?
I imagine attacking a target that could literally collapse the world economy would be slightly harder than flying drones at a very expensive boat.
One of these two actors is actively and aggressively siezing strategic territory needed for a sound position in a changing climate. I’ll give you a hint: neither of them give a shit about living in Russia.
I hope to see this same victim blaming enthusiasm when America invades Canada and Greenland for the same reasons.
America nuked Japan twice and they ended up pretty good friends. If Russia could, they would. They don’t want to get pants’ed on the world stage.
You want to make a lifelong enemy? Renege on 20 peace deals since 2014.
What a dumbass piece of advice
The theory behind DEI policies is to formally challenge personal bias (both explicit and subconscious) in hiring and participation. There’s nothing inherently tied to unfairly favoring minority groups other than the fact that they are usually the target of negative bias.
It’s a pretty basic and logical idea that acknowledges human fallibility. I hate that it was rapidly co-opted on all sides as a shorthand for racism and opposition to cis-white-male dominance.
